About the Froedtert Birth Center
The Froedtert Birth Center is located within Children’s Wisconsin in the Medical College of Wisconsin. Their obstetricians and anesthesia providers are available in the hospital 24 hours a day. In addition, they have a new birth center that provides the comforts of home alongside the latest technology. The rooms at the Froedtert Birth Center are newly renovated. They now include:
- a flat-screen television
- a private spa-inspired bathroom
- room service
- a sleeper sofa for your support person
- a whirlpool to help ease the pains and discomforts of labor
When you arrive at the Froedtert Birth Center, their staff will evaluate you to determine the most appropriate care plan. Specially designed private birthing suites for mom and baby are available for complete comfort and safety.
Services
Froedtert Birth Center offers many options for your comfort throughout labor. They provide everything from breathing, relaxation techniques, and birthing balls to whirlpool tubs and epidural anesthesia. All pain management options are available 24 hours a day. Your partner is welcome to be at your side during the birth of your baby. The staff is available to provide all the support and assistance you need. Not everything always goes as planned, so the Froedtert Birth Center offers three state-of-the-art operating rooms if a cesarean birth is necessary. Their physicians and anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day to provide the safest care possible to you and your baby.
Postnatal Services
After the delivery of your baby, you will go to the postpartum room. The postpartum rooms feature services and amenities designed to allow families the time to rest and bond. This also allows the family to welcome their new addition in comfort. With welcoming furnishings and a soothing design and color scheme, each suite is equipped with the latest technology while offering many home-like amenities. Your baby will stay with you after birth unless they need extra monitoring or assistance. Babies who need additional help, such as oxygen or IV antibiotics, receive care in a Level II special care nursery located within their Mother-Baby Unit. Staff members are available 24/7 to help parents learn how to support and care for their infants.
The Froedtert Birth Center thought of everything to keep you comfortable and safe. Most births go just as planned, but if there are complications during your pregnancy or labor, you will have access to the hospital’s Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists and Children’s Wisconsin’s state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit. With 70 private rooms, it is the largest Level IV NICU in Wisconsin.
Special Services
Froedtert Birth Center offers online interactive classes that include videos, helpful tools, checklists, and trackers. All courses are open to moms-to-be delivering at the center. There is a FREE seven-class series covering pregnancy, labor and birth, breastfeeding, infant safety, and infant care. Included is a hands-on experience in a simulated nursery. They also have breastfeeding classes for beginners, focusing on how to breastfeed moms returning to work, which can be a huge adjustment. The Froedtert Birth Center accepts insurance and will thoroughly review a financial agreement based on your plan benefits. There are no hidden fees or costs. Everything is taken care of ahead of time so you can be free of any stress the day your precious baby arrives.
